Online Music Lessons for Kids
Private one-on-one lessons with vetted teachers who love working with children, live from your home in AAM Studio. Every lesson is recorded, and the practice notes stay in your family's portal.
Why families choose online lessons
- No driving to lessons. Your child plays at home, on the instrument they practice on every day.
- Parents can sit in, read the practice notes and rewatch the lesson for 10 days afterward.
- A weekly lesson time can book itself from your lesson credits, so the routine stays steady.
- One parent account covers every child, each with their own teacher, notes and recordings.
Ages and instruments
Teachers on our roster work with children from age 5 on most instruments, from age 4 on drums and band instruments, and from age 7 on violin. Choose an instrument to meet its teachers and see the ages each one teaches.

Questions people ask
What is a good age for kids to start music lessons?+
A good time is when your child can focus for a short lesson and is excited to play. Teachers on our roster work with children from age 5 on most instruments, from age 4 on drums and band instruments, and from age 7 on violin, and many young beginners start with 30 minute lessons. Each teacher's profile shows the ages they teach.
How much do online music lessons for kids cost?+
Every instrument and teacher has the same price, set by the lesson length (30, 45 or 60 minutes). See single lessons, lesson packs and discounted monthly plans, which bring the price of each lesson down. Families in 13 states can also pay through their ESA or scholarship program.
Do I need to stay in the lesson with my child?+
Younger children often do best with a parent nearby for the first few lessons, to help with the camera and the instrument. Older children usually take lessons on their own. Either way, the practice notes and the recording show you what was covered.
Are the lessons private?+
Yes. Every lesson is one-on-one with your child's teacher in AAM Studio, our own lesson room, and every teacher is screened before joining our roster.
Can my child take lessons on a tablet?+
Yes. AAM Studio works on a computer or tablet, in the web browser or the All Around Music app for Windows, iPhone, iPad and Linux. See Downloads & Support.
What do we need for online lessons?+
The instrument, a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone, a steady internet connection and a quiet room. Lessons take place in AAM Studio, in your web browser or the All Around Music app, and headphones give the best sound.
